How to Connect PlayerOne to a
Wi-Fi or Static IP Network
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting your PlayerOne to a Wi-Fi or static IP network, outlining two available methods for setup.
Method #1: PlayerOne User Interface
You can manually enter the network information using the PlayerOne’s built-in user interface. To do this, connect a USB mouse and an HDMI monitor directly to the PlayerOne device, allowing you to configure network settings without needing a .json file.
Method 2: Configuration File
Alternatively, you can create a .json configuration file using either our automatic utility or by manually following the provided formats. Once the file is created, it is saved to a USB drive and then connected to the PlayerOne’s USB port for network setup.
Method #1: PlayerOne User Interface
- Connect the Player:
- Connect a monitor to the HDMI port on PlayerOne.
- Plug a USB mouse into any USB port.
- Access the User Interface:
- Once connected, the player’s interface will display on the monitor.
- Configure Network Settings:
- Navigate to Network > Network & Internet > See All.
- Select your Wi-Fi network or set up static IP settings.
Note: In the case of a Wi-Fi setup, the Wi-Fi indicator on the player’s LED will illuminate, confirming a successful connection to the network.
Method #2: Configuration File
- Create the Configuration File:
- Use the PlayerOne Configuration Utility to automatically generate the .json file.
- Optional: You can manually create the .json file by following the formats provided here.
- Prepare the USB Drive:
- For Wi-Fi connections, name the file json
- For static IP setups, name it json
- Save the file to a USB drive, ensuring it is the only file on the drive.
- Important: Double-check that the file name is exact, and the file is the only one on the USB drive. If both of these conditions are met, the PlayerOne will be able to read the file and respond to the USB input for network setup.
- Insert the USB into PlayerOne:
- Insert the USB into any port on PlayerOne. The device will configure the network in 30-45 seconds. “PASS” will appear on the display if successful.
- Troubleshooting:
- If there is an error, the player will display a code:
E51: Incorrect network.json format.
E52: Incorrect wifi.json format.
- Rebuild the file using the configuration utility or manually verify that the file format is correct before trying again. You can find the correct file formats here.
